Submission of Papers for the 44th Earth Sciences Conference Has Begun

The 44th Earth Sciences Conference, with the slogan “Digital Earth and Intelligent Exploration; A Step Towards Sustainable Development”, will be held on April 21–22, 2026, in Tehran. Researchers, professors, and students in the field of Earth sciences can submit their scientific and research papers through the official conference website until February 1, 2026.

According to the Public Relations Office of the Geological Survey & Mineral Exploration of Iran, Alireza Vaezi, Scientific Secretary of the Earth Sciences Conference, referring to the importance of holding this scientific event, said:
"The 44th Earth Sciences Conference is a valuable opportunity to recognize the fundamental role of Earth sciences in shaping a sustainable and livable future for the country. Today, the world is on the threshold of a new era in which data and artificial intelligence have become the common language of knowledge, and Earth sciences have not remained unaffected by this fundamental transformation."

Dr. Vaezi, Director of the Organizational Development & Empowerment Department at the Institute of Earth Sciences, added:
"Nowadays, geological maps and data are no longer merely a reflection of the past, but, relying on intelligent analyses, they have become tools for predicting the future and making informed decisions. The concept of Digital Earth indicates entry into an era in which our understanding of the Earth becomes networked, multidimensional, and interdisciplinary, and the boundaries between data, insight, and action are blended."

The Scientific Secretary of the Earth Sciences Conference, referring to the challenges facing the country, stated:
"Issues such as land subsidence, water stress, sustainable exploitation of mines, and the security of strategic mineral supplies can no longer be addressed by traditional methods. Mines and mineral resources, as one of the pillars of national development, play a decisive role in the economy, employment, and energy security of the country, and their intelligent and scientific management is an unavoidable necessity."

A faculty member of the Institute of Earth Sciences stated the main themes of this conference as the digital transformation of Earth science data, intelligent exploration integrating big data and artificial intelligence, sustainable mining, resource diplomacy, land resilience against climate change, crisis management of water resources and subsidence, and the preparation of geological and geochemical maps using advanced technologies, and said:
"In this event, we aim to create a comprehensive dialogue among universities, industry, and governance systems and to provide a foundation for the development of Earth-centered thinking on the path to sustainable development in Iran."

In conclusion, he expressed hope that this conference, with active participation from the scientific and industrial community of the country, will take an effective step in strengthening knowledge infrastructure, developing new geological technologies, and enhancing land resilience.

The 44th Earth Sciences Conference will be held at the Geological Survey & Mineral Exploration of Iran, and interested individuals can submit papers and obtain more information through the official conference website: https://conf.ries.ac.ir/
