Laboratory
Microscopy Laboratory Facilities:
• 4 Nicon E 200 polarizing microscopes; one of these microscopes is equipped with a digital camera with a 16-megapixel resolution.
• 1 Leitz Laborlux 11 polarizing microscope and 1 Leitz Ortholux optical microscope.
• 2 reflected-light microscopes, including 1 Leitz 12 microscope and 1 Leica microscope.
• 4 simple binocular microscopes, including 3 Leica microscopes and 1 Olympus microscope.
• 1 Wide brand educational binocular microscope.
• Currently, the Microscopy Laboratory of the Earth Sciences Research Institute enables a wide range of microscopic studies, including: thin section analysis, mineralogical studies, paleoclimatic studies (isolated samples such as microfossils and palynology studies). The variety of objective lenses—100, 60, 50, 40, 10, 4, and 2.5 microns—facilitates studies in different sections of the laboratory.
• All polarizing microscopes are equipped with ND, UV, Blue, and Lambda filters, enhancing user satisfaction during microscope operation.

Tectonic Modeling Laboratory Facilities:
• 1 large sand box with electric motor
• 2 small sand boxes with electric motors
• Large and small camera stands
• 3 projectors
• Materials and colors required for conducting analog modeling

Marine Seismograph Facilities:
• Marine seismograph

According to the statute approved by the Board of Trustees under the chairmanship of the Honorable Minister of Industry, Mine, and Trade, the Earth Sciences Research Institute is authorized to utilize the hardware and software facilities of the Geological Survey Organization and its related units.
